In amanner similar to the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Seal of Good Local Governance, the municipality of Tanay gave recognition to its barangays that performed well in 2016 in different components of governance and public service during Gabi ng Parangal 2017, the culminating activity of the 7th Hane Festival held last November 12, 2017.

Highlighting the integrity, accountability, transparency, and community involvement manifested by its 19 barangays, the municipal government adopted the SGLG into the Seal of Good Barangay Governance. The SGBG is primarily aimed at determining the level of performance of every barangay in Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Environmental Management, Peace and Order, and Tourism and People-Friendliness, regardless of their population size and income. Parallel with the SGLG’s mechanisms on evaluation, the local government also created an assessment team that conducted on-site and document validations in both poblacion and upland barangays.

After complying with the necessary documentations and reaching the required mark, the following barangays received plaques of recognition in the different components:

Seal of Tourism and People-Friendliness

  3. Sangguniang Barangay of Wawa

Seal of Good Peace and Order

  5. Sangguniang Barangay of Cuyambay

  7. Sangguniang Barangay of Plaza Aldea

Seal of Good Environmental Management

  1. Sangguniang Barangay of San Isidro and Sangguniang Barangay of Wawa
  2. Sangguniang Barangay of Katipunan-Bayani

Seal of Good Social Protection

  1. Sangguniang Barangay of Katipunan-Bayani
  2. Sangguniang Barangay of San Isidro

Seal of Good Disaster Preparedness

Though there was no awardee in the Financial Administration component (hence no eventual SGBG seal and P500,000 cash incentive recipient), Mayor Rex  Manuel C. Tanjuatco still rewarded the top-performing barangays namely San Isidro, Wawa, Katipunan-Bayani, and Sampaloc with P100,000 worth of projects.

Aside from local government officials and employees, council members of all barangays in Tanay, and other awardees, DILG-CALABARZON Regional Director Manuel Q. Gotis, was also present during the event as guest of honor. In his message, he lauded the municipal government for this initiative and congratulated Tanay forbagging a back-to-back SGLG award. Moreover, he also expressed his confidence in the municipality for adhering to themandate of the local government code and other national rules and regulations, and encouraged all the barangays to keep up with their best practices to be able to garner the much coveted SGBG.

How to Get Here
