On February 14, 2023, the municipality of Tanay, Rizal held its Kasalang Bayan 2023. Spearheaded by the Honorable Mayor Rafael “Lito” A. Tanjuatco, Vice Mayor Rex Manuel C. Tanjuatco, and the Sangguniang Bayan, the event was a resounding success, with 79 couples taking part in the mass wedding ceremony held at the Tanay Municipal Grounds.
The Kasalang Bayan is a project of the Local Government Unit of Tanay, which aims to provide a platform for unmarried couples in the town to get married without the burden of expensive wedding fees. This initiative is a great help to couples who cannot afford the likes of a church wedding, civil wedding, wedding gown, food for guests, decorations, and more.
Through the collaboration of the Local Civil Registrar of Tanay and other offices, the Kasalang Bayan 2023 was successfully conducted. The event started with the entrance of all the couples, followed by the official wedding ceremony, which was initiated with a prayer led by Dr. Roldan Delos Santos, a pastor of the Blessed Hope Christian Church of Tanay.
The program continued with the Opening Remarks of Mr. Noel Jose Rayco, the Head of the Local Civil Registrar, followed by the renewal of vows headed by Hon. Mayor Rafael “Lito” Tanjuatco. The message of Hon. Vice Mayor Rex Manuel Tanjuatco was then delivered to the couples.
The project of the Local Government Unit of Tanay waived the application fee, solemnization fee, and all processing fees of getting the marriage license, even the request for CENOMAR, and the notarial fee for Article 34. This move shows how the LGU of Tanay prioritizes the welfare of its constituents, especially those who cannot afford to get married.
The LGU provided a bouquet for the bride and a special token for the couples. This gesture showcases the government's support for the couples who choose to take the next step in their relationships and serves as a testament to the municipality's commitment to good governance.
