Personifying the beauty of our God-given nature and culture, the Mutya ng Tanay 2014 has given rise to the typical social status of men and women of Tanay, from its rural mind-set to global competitive eco-tourism.
During the 4th annual celebration of Tanay Hane Festival, the Mutya ng Tanay was undoubtedly the highlight of the said festivity. This year, 18 attractive young ladies from 11 barangays rears up to participate, compete and to proudly represent their locality. As the grand event approaches, preparations have been intense for the candidates as their schedules constrict from workshop on proper gestures, postures and modeling, to pictorials and dress rehearsals for 8 consecutive weeks before the coronation night.
Competition was deemed stiff during the Talent Contest last October 20, 2014 at the Activity Area of the Tanay Municipal Building, as the candidates showcased their adeptness in their God-given skills. They have livened the day with belly dancing, monologue acting, interpretative dancing, drawing interpretation, ethnic and Hawaiian dancing, declamation and singing. On the night of November 10, Saturday, candidates paraded elegantly in their evening gowns and gorgeously worn their festival costumes. Conception and designing of festival costumes has also been tough for the candidates and their supporters as it must be made from the raw materials of niyog, saging and kawayan. Creativity and uniqueness is of essential to capture the audiences’ and judges’ admiration.
Judges from different industry graced the said event, The dashing gentlemen judges also thrilled and entertained the audience with their popular songs while serenading the candidates. For the most awaited moment, it was Ms. Angeline Rotairo of Brgy. Kat-Bayani who was crowned as Mutya ng Tanay 2014 as she confidently and perfectly answered an eco-tourism question during the finals. Major prizes were also given for Best Creative Costume, Ms. Talent, Best in Long Gown, Best in Casual Wear and Ms. Teen Tourism. While Minor Awards are as follows: Ms. Photogenic, Ms. Congeniality, Ms. Cat-Walk, People’s Choice Award and Ms. Colgate Phils.
