The local government unit of Tanay, Rizal under Mayor Rex Manuel C. Tanjuatco bagged the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award or "Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal" during the National Conferment Ceremony held October 27 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.
No less than DILG Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno led the awarding of plaques to the winners from all over the country.
LGU Tanay passed all the minimum parameters of the core components, namely: Financial Administration, Social Protection, and Disaster Preparedness. Moreover, the Municipal Government met the measures for all of the following three essential areas: Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order, and Environmental Management.
SGLG is considered the highest award given by DILG to local government units that are pursuing good governance practices while providing better services to the constituents.
For this year, Tanay joins LGU Angono under Mayor Gerry Calderon and the Province of Rizal under Gov. Rebecca Ynares as the SGLG awardees from Rizal.
With the award, LGU Tanay is entitled to the Performance Challenge Fund, which it can use to fund its priority development projects.
