The downpour caused by Habagat didn’t hinder the people of Tanay from celebrating 120years of solemn and joyous Independence Day, just as our Hon. Mayor Rex Manuel C.Tanjuatco said, “It was solemn because we are all aware that our independence came at a very steep price, and joyous because we are a free country and there are no foreign invaders that oppress our rights…”.It was indeed a rainy season, but our nationalism continuously to ignites we celebrate this very occasion.
The celebration started with a morning mass in San Ildefonso Parish Church followed by a short parade to the venue, warmly welcoming the distinguished guests, Tanay LGU employees, and members of the different sectors from the community of Tanay. After the tableau, performed by the students of Tanay National Highschool, our Hon. Vice Mayor Jaime B. Vista gave his warm opening speech. The ceremonial entrance of the colors (our national flag) gave a patriotic meaning to the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, led by SRBMES Choir.
Together with his greetings and remarks, our Hon. Mayor Rex Manuel C. Tanjuatco also disclosed all the achievements he has made for Tanay in his ‘State of the Municipal Address,’ covering all the accomplishments and awards in his almost two years of service and his goals towards the more sustainable development of Tanay. He acknowledged several events and accomplishments that Tanay has obtained such as, livelihood development, agricultural development, achievements in health services, infrastructure developments, achievements in peace and order, achievements in environmental management, local economic development and more. On his ending note, our Mayor Rex Manuel said, “We (LGU) want a continued rise of Tanay, all belong, all benefits.” With this, Tanay has the momentum for continuous and sustainable growth.
The last part of the Independence Day Program is the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Blessing and the Inauguration of the Newly Built ATM Machine of Land Bank in the Municipal Compound. To make the cash on demand transactions with Land Bank faster and easier, not only for the employees of the municipal but also for the people of Tanay.
Indeed, Tanay has grown, reaching more milestones as times goes by, but we have to still keep in mind the sacrifices that our heroes and ancestors have done for us to have the independence that we continue to celebrate and the happiness that comes from that freedom. Happy Independence Day!
