Led by Hon. Mayor Rex Manuel Tanjuatco, the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GADFPS) of Tanay attended a Seminar-Workshop on Gender Sensitivity, Gender and Development (GAD) Mainstreaming, and Gender Analysis and Tools last August 7-9, 2019 at Mountain Lake Resort, Cavinti, Laguna.
With the theme “Making LGU Tanay Gender Responsive,” the seminar-workshop was a refresher for the GADFPS on GAD planning and budgeting and an orientation on the latest issues and concerns on gender and development. It was a move aimed at strengthening the local government’s support mechanisms for a much gender-sensitive and responsive programs, projects, activities, and policies, thereby improving how it addresses the needs of its constituents, especially the marginalized sector including women and their children.
Aside from the GADFPS, the seminar-workshop was also attended too by the members of Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Rafael Tanjuatco. With the local legislators getting familiarized with the existing laws, rules, and regulations related to gender and development, they vowed to work hand in hand with the GADFPS in making policies that ensure gender equality is observed in the municipality.
Among the speakers during the seminar-workshop were Dr. Wilhelmina Masinsin, GAD resource pool member of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and GAD Coordinator of the University of Rizal System, Ms. Annalyn Marie Angulo, Tanay MLGOO, and Dr. Herminigilda Cabanting, Tanay GAD Focal Person.
